Training

Training can be provided for parents, professionals and community groups on a variety of topics.  Examples include:


Developmental Coordination Disorder and Dyspraxia

  • Definitions, prevalence and current research
  • Common difficulties at home and school
  • Tips for helping children with co-ordination difficulties
  • An introduction to handwriting difficulties and using scissors

Handwriting

  • Pre-requisite skills and considerations for beginning and developing handwriting.
  • Readiness for handwriting and pre-writing activities.
  • Assessing handwriting at school.
  • Planning intervention programmes.
  • Secondary pupils: developing handwriting fluency, addressing on-going difficulties, examination considerations, use of technology and organisational skills.





Motor Skills

  • Common difficulties and diagnoses including Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD) and Dyspraxia.
  • Assessment in the school environment.
  • Intervention for improving motor skills (including Gym Trail and other group activities).

Sensory Processing

  • Common difficulties and diagnoses
  • Brief overview of the sensory system
  • Observing sensory processing difficulties
  • Intervention for the classroom – practical strategies
  • Self-regulation programmes such as Zones of Regulation and The Alert Programme
